It's all in the Bread!

Mumbai is known for its fast food — one that is made on stalls; is delicious; and tugs at the heartstrings of every Mumbaikar. And, one such item that is quick and easy, is the sandwich. Sandwiches are a classic on-the-go snack. I don't mean Subway sandwiches here. Specifically, I'm talking about the street-style sandwiches that hit you right in the gut. Mumbai is well-known for its vada pavs and these buttery, cheesy, piled-high vegetable sandwiches. Every train station and college has a stall. The Bombay sandwich is a variant of the sandwich that the people of Mumbai have been creating for many years. Mumbai's office-goers and the general public have been satisfied. Boil potatoes and beets are sandwiched between two slices of bread with bell peppers, cucumbers, and onions. Toasted or grilled, it can be eaten either way. While you have a variety of gourmet sandwiches up for grabs, here is a list of the best roadside sandwiches that you have to taste if you are a sandwich lover!

Sandwizza

This joint is not a roadside eatery but a proper joint. It was earlier called swastika, the food is of good quality, an interesting piece of information is that, it used to be a roadside eatery and it saw so much success over the years so they converted into a store. It does quirky flavors such as cheese pineapple, tandori toast and spinach corn. This place is well known for its vegetable grilled sandwich. The sandwiches have a huge Mumbaiya influence.

Anand Stall

A huge hit with the students of Mithibai College, this stall has a wide range of sandwiches along with other food items. Huge triangular sandwich bread and sandwiches loaded with cheese. The dishes to try are the veg. grilled sandwich and Mayonnaise grilled sandwich.

Right Placebreach candy

At this Eatery, they excel at making a delectable Grilled cheese sandwich. Bread and Amul cheese with chopped up vegetables and chili-coriander chutney, while eating this you’re sure to think that you’ve come at the right place! It is made fresh, right in front of you, and it is very fascinating to watch the preparation. It has been around for more than 3 decades, consistently serving generous and delicious portions of everything fast-food. Though there’s no seating, you’ll just love the vibe of the place.

Jay Sandwich, Bandra

This place is truly a hidden gem near linking road Bandra. If you are visiting linking road this place has to be on your go-to list. This place serves some amazing high-quality sandwiches and drinks along with it. This place used to be always crowded by the students of nearby colleges. The taste is really delicious and the prices are very reasonable. So mouth-watering and appetizing. Chutney which is served with sandwich is minty and tasty.

Raju Sandwich, Churchgate

This place is right opposite to HR College and is one of the favourites amongst the students. Very crowded place you will definitely need to wait atleast 20 - 25 minutes to get your order. The food is of superb quality and very well presented. The prices are decent and totally worth the food. It strictly serves vegetarian which is a delight to one's mouth. Complete cheesy and lip-smacking food joint.

Lucky Sandwich, Parle

That joy of eating delicious street food! Optimally spicy & crispy, freshly toasted & buttery, vegetable brown bread toast sandwich served with mint chutney, is utterly lip-smacking. Lucky Sandwich & Pizza Corner is near Parle West Station. Being quite close Vile Parle West station, it's been my go-to place for years. Their grilled sandwiches are quite filling. Their classic vegetable sandwich is one of my favorites. Their grilled cheese sandwich and chilly cheese toast sandwich are worth trying. They have a great variety of Jain sandwiches. Their toasties really stand out, so do try this if you’re in the area!

Get your Dosa dose of the week.

Hello all! Welcome back to See Mumbai My Way.

Need some masala dosas that are lavishly loaded from the street? Mumbai is a foodie's paradise. We enjoy trying out all of the many foods that the city offers. There's everything from Chinese and Indian food to street food to Italian food to choose from. The simple Udupi restaurant is largely responsible for the popularity of dosas in Mumbai. It's not uncommon for an immigrant from Karnataka's Udupi district to open a small, unassuming eatery. To keep up with the growing population, Udupi restaurants grew in number as well. On the other hand, there are roadside stalls, whose version of the dosa enrages purists. Schezwan dosa! Spring Masala Dosa! Pav Bhaji Dosa! Even so, there's no way you can ignore these spunky innovations in the evolution of the dosa. I've put together a list of the greatest dosas in the city, complete with mouth-watering varieties that you must add to your bucket list immediately!

Anand Stall, Vile Parle

Located near Juhu Beach, Anand Stall for Dosa in Mumbai offers over 64 different types of dosas. An Iron Tawa and hardworking men preparing dosas on it gives an impressive sight to behold. It's like watching a Dosa-making machine in action. Anand Stall might just be a stall but it has made quite a reputation for itself. People travel all the way from South Mumbai to have a taste of the dosas served up at this small eatery. For this and other reasons, they are India's No. 1 Dosa stall. Fusion Dosa is Anand Dosa's specialty. They brought the world amazing fusion dosas including Pav-bhaji Dosa, Chinese Dosa, Maggie Dosa, Pizza Dosa, Mushroom Dosa, Palak Dosa, and even a Chocolate Dosa!

Ayyapan Idli Stall, Matunga

If you haven't tried Dosa here, you're missing out. Ayyapan Idli Stall is a must-visit if you're in Matunga and looking for something healthy. In about 5 minutes, you may have a variety of dosas at Ayyapan Idli Stall. The Cocktail dosa is basically a cocktail of all the ingredients used in various dosas; it's filling and delicious! It's the only dosa you need to get if you want to be satisfied with just one thing.

Nandu Dosa, Juhu

In Juhu, near Ritumbara College, the Jini Dosa is served at Nandu Dosa. One of Mumbai's best-known dosa eateries, this stall is famed for its affordable dosas. Youngsters typically take over during lunchtime, and you can see their joy on their cheeks as they gobble up dosas from the stall. Try their paneer makhani dosa and sweet corn dosa, however.

Sai Swad Dosa, Ghatkopar East

It's a foodie's paradise in Ghatkopar's alleyways. In addition, the Jini Dosa is a crowd-pleaser at this quaint small stall. You must try the Maggi and Manchurian dosas. Dosa lovers should not miss this booth because it is one of the most famous dosa-serving stalls! hygiene is well-maintained along with amazing flavoursome taste. They provide with dosa coconut, green & Schezwan chutneys. The place is mostly crowded thus they simultaneously make at least 4-5 dosas on different tawas. Still, You will need to wait for 30-40 mins but the taste & varieties that you get here is worth the wait.

Narayan Dosa, Grant Road

Dosa at Narayan's is one of Mumbai's oldest dosa joints. You can choose from a variety of fusion and traditional dosas. There are four tables within the restaurant where you can eat. But the majority eat in their parked cars or stand out. Evenings and late evenings are usually are very crowded at this location. It can take up to 30-40 minutes on a normal day, and up to 50 minutes on the weekends to receive your order. To prevent high wait times, it's best to place your order early. Even during peak hours, the staff is kind and accommodating, and they immediately take care of your food requests.

Bambai aye aur chaat nahi khaye?

Bambai aye aur chaat nahi khaye? Don't let yourself become that person.

Hello all! Welcome back to See Mumbai My Way.

There is no denying that it is the city's most renowned street dish. There are many other street foods, such as Vada pav, samosa, pav bhaji, and dosas, but the popularity of chaat is somewhat different. Each corner of the road has a person who sells a unique blend of flavors from a thela. There are several places in Mumbai where you can get chaat.

Mumbai is recognised for its wide range of foods that can be enjoyed by people of all income levels and tastes. There is however one dish that is a favourite in every city, and that is chaat! Despite Delhi’s reputation for golgappas and Tikki chaat, Mumbai isn't far behind when it comes to giving this favourite a new spin. No matter where you land up in Mumbai there is always a chat corner nearby. Here are my top favourite places in the city where you can get this tastiest treat.

Shreeji’s – the fusion kitchen, Borivali

A top-notch service provider in the industry and the first of its type in the city of Mumbai. As a roadside stand, the cleanliness standards are excellent and the cuisine is delicious! Since this is street food, the ambiance isn't important, but as the wise men say, "don't judge a book by its cover". Must-try dishes are the veg extravaganza and the pizza punch. Some cheese and chaat can solve any problem, and at Shreeji’s you can get both in abundance.

Guru Kripa, Sion

It's one of the city's greatest chaat spots, and it's recognised for its chaat specialties as well as its samosas, which are legendary. The samosa chaat or chhole samosa, which is topped with their tangy and spicy chutneys, is a must-try delicacy here in addition to the other chaat dishes. Since the establishment of this shop, multiplexes in the city have purchased samosas from it.

Khau Galli, Ghatkopar east

Khau gallis (food lanes) abound in a city known for its street cuisine, and there is no absence of them for food lovers. The Khau gallis in Ghatkopar east, on the other hand, stands out as the best. From dosas to pasta, you'll be able to satisfy your cravings. Regulars, on the other hand, enjoy the Pani puri and chaat served here and return for more time and time again to try them.

Girgaon & Juhu Chowpatty

Mumbai chaat is pretty much synonymous with these two beaches, and no trip to Mumbai is complete without trying it. Family-friendly, couples-friendly, and solo-friendly, this venue is generally full in the evenings and weekends. As long as you are willing to brave the crowds, you will enjoy the diversity of local chaat alternatives available here.

Chaat Cart, Vile Parle East

Setup time for his stall is around 3:00 pm, with everything ready by 4:30 pm. When it comes to prepping food, he does it all. In spite of his limited product line of only three items (sev puri, bhel puri, and Pani puri), his stock is said to be depleted by 10 pm every day. That's what he wants! His secret formulas for theeka green chutney and meetha chutney add to the flavour.

Jai Jhulelal, Mulund

Jai Jhulelal is one of the famous spots in Mulund for Pani puri and has been in the market for 30 years. They have a unique taste in their Pani puri and it is no match by the others. They also give their Pani puri parcel if you need it. They have Gulab jamun also which served hot. They are extremely soft and always fresh.

Vada Pav & Mumbai are synonymous!

Hellloo! Welcome Back to See Mumbai My Way!

When you ask anyone what's one thing that comes to mind when you hear Mumbai, everyone knows it’s the famous Vada Pavs of Mumbai. I’ve been eating this snack since childhood and it has my heart. In this blog, I am going to tell you about my favorite Vada Pav places across Mumbai which I love.

Vada Pav has not introduced to Mumbai very long ago. Ashok Vaidya was the magician who introduced to us this mouth-watering snack. Babasaheb Thackeray encouraged Maharashtrians to become entrepreneurs in the 1960s like the South Indians who had done so by opening Udipi Restaurants. When Vaidya put up a stand outside Dadar Station in 1966, hundreds of thousands of workers were passing by on their way to the textile factories in suburban Parel and Worli. Initially, he sold Vada and Poha next to a booth serving Omelette Pav. It was one of his experiments to add extra flavor by sandwiching a Vada between two pieces of Pav and a chutney Vada Pav, the result of the experiment, became an instant hit in a matter of days.

Vada Pav's popularity skyrocketed in a matter of weeks. It became a popular snack among the working class. Making it was simple, and it was inexpensive and convenient to eat, too. Fast food company McDonald's made its debut in India in the 1990s and quickly expanded. Maharashtra, on the other hand, remained fixated on the Vada Pav, despite Because McDonald's burgers are made according to standard recipe and equipment, this was the main reason for the delay. All the burgers taste the same because of the mechanization. Vada Pav, on the other hand, is a different story. The Vada Pav sold by almost every vendor has a secret recipe and ingredient that sets it apart from the rest.

Even though there are now a variety of Vada Pav businesses in India, Mumbaikars claim that none of them can equal the rusticity and homeliness of their own roadside snack. 'Vada Pav Inc.' was a 5-minute documentary film directed by Aalambayan Sidharth in 2015 that focused on Ashok Vaidya and his career as the inventor of the Vada Pav. World Vada Pav Day is celebrated on August 23 to honor Maharashtra's greatest culinary gift to foodies.

Below is a list of my Fav Vada Pav Places I’d Love you all to try.

1.      Mangesh Vada Pav, Borivali, Mumbai

I have been eating here since my childhood and still crave the same item from his stall. As the sale is very high you will get Vada’s and samosa's hot because the new batch of Vada’s comes, they get sold quickly. Also, the taste of the chutney is so perfect that the blend of all three chutneys is very well balanced. Generally, you will see a rush during evening times because the shop is open only in the evening. A lot of people gather here to taste this Vada pav. Also, try samosa here they are a bit different and spicy. The very special thing about this joint is that Masalas and stuffing are prepared by the same chef since the stall has started so there is no change in the taste for years. Mangesh has been awarded one of the best Vada pav sellers in Mumbai. Do try once. they have 3 stalls, out of which 2 are near Borivali station(west) and one is in Babhai Naka Borivali west Opp to municipality school. They also serve kande bhaji, batata bhaji and much more.

2.      Dhiraj Fast Food

Dhiraj Special Sandwich is exactly opposite Mithibai college and Bhaidas hall very famous landmark. A very compact roadside stall nicely managed all counters (Sandwich, juice, and Vada pav.) A go-to place for every college student. During my college days, this was my almost every day go-to place. With super tasty and pocket-friendly prices, this place is surely a favorite for many students. They serve some really good butter Vada pav, amazing dosas with many varieties, and some real yummy sandwiches. They were the first ones to introduce Grilled Vada pavs and I’ve been obsessed with those since the first time I had it. the steaming hot Vada is sandwiched between buttered pave onions and dry garlic chutney. They are operating for over 5 decades.

3.      Ashok Vada Pav/ Kirti College Vada Pav

Another iconic place where I have been visiting since my childhood is to have crispy Vada pav. Ashok Vada pav aka Kirti College Vada pav center is a stall near Kirti College Dadar serves one of the finest and best Vada pav in Mumbai. Whenever I visit Dadar or nearby places I won't forget to have this iconic Vada pav. I like their unique style of serving the Vada pav with Choora. They also sell only Choora Pav which is also unique. The Vada Pav is filled with Green Chutney, Tamarind Chutney, and Red Sukha Chutney. You can have this Vada pav at any time and it will satisfy your soul. Also, if you visit there be patient as there would be a rush as expected. The evening time is the best so that u can have the hot Vada pav and enjoy the moment around the evening breeze by the seashore.

4.      Thakur Vada Pav

What if you could crunch your way through the tasty Vada Pav? In Dombivli, the Thakur Vada Pav stall is a hidden gem that serves farsan-filled Vada Pavs. There is a lot of corn chiwda, chutney, and onions in the Vada Pav. Every bite is an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Even better is that the flavor of the original Vada is not diminished but rather enhanced. Even Bhajji Pav is sold there. As a result, expect a long wait.

The city of Zillion Dreams - Mumbai

M

umbai is perhaps the liveliest city on earth.

In a single word, the city is dynamic.

The people: There's nothing to worry about here. If you ask for assistance, you will always get it. You'll get precise directions to a specific location if you ask for them. Of course, generalisations are dangerous, but the people can be grouped into the “wonderful” category. “You'll always find someone fighting in the neighbourhood,” a local says. “You can travel wherever you want.” It's entertaining to watch.

Weather: Every day from March through May, you'll hear, "It's so brutally hot today!" Expect high humidity as well. Rainfall is expected from June through September. The labour, on the other hand, never stops. Remember that the city never sleeps? October is uncomfortable, but November to February is fairly pleasant.

I am born and brought up in this beautiful city. As I grew up, I saw this city stops for no one, unless it’s a heavily rainy day and train stop functioning ;). Mumbai locals are known as lifeline of the city. It is easy to commute from any end of the city to any end by local trains. I personally prefer travelling by trains instead of using road. Firstly because of high frequencies of trains and secondly Mumbai is also known for its crazy traffic.

See Mumbai My Way is a platform where you will visualise how I see and feel about this city of Dreams. I will show you my favourite places to eat street food throughout the city, my favourite dishes from the place and how to get there. So, ladies and gentleman get ready for the food and travel journey through Mumbai. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome. Hope here also you will shower your love by following this blog.
