Hello all! Welcome back to See Mumbai My Way.
Need some masala dosas that are lavishly loaded from
the street? Mumbai is a foodie's paradise. We enjoy trying out all of the many
foods that the city offers. There's everything from Chinese and Indian food to
street food to Italian food to choose from. The simple Udupi restaurant is
largely responsible for the popularity of dosas in Mumbai. It's not uncommon
for an immigrant from Karnataka's Udupi district to open a small, unassuming
eatery. To keep up with the growing population, Udupi restaurants grew in
number as well. On the other hand, there are roadside stalls, whose version
of the dosa enrages purists. Schezwan dosa! Spring Masala Dosa! Pav Bhaji Dosa!
Even so, there's no way you can ignore these spunky innovations in the
evolution of the dosa. I've put together a list of the greatest dosas in the
city, complete with mouth-watering varieties that you must add to your bucket
list immediately!
Anand Stall, Vile Parle
Located near Juhu Beach, Anand Stall for Dosa in Mumbai
offers over 64 different types of dosas. An Iron Tawa and hardworking men
preparing dosas on it gives an impressive sight to behold. It's like watching a
Dosa-making machine in action. Anand Stall might just be a stall but it has
made quite a reputation for itself. People travel all the way from South Mumbai
to have a taste of the dosas served up at this small eatery. For this and other
reasons, they are India's No. 1 Dosa stall. Fusion Dosa is Anand Dosa's
specialty. They brought the world amazing fusion dosas including Pav-bhaji Dosa,
Chinese Dosa, Maggie Dosa, Pizza Dosa, Mushroom Dosa, Palak Dosa, and even a
Chocolate Dosa!
Ayyapan Idli Stall, Matunga
If you haven't tried Dosa here, you're missing out. Ayyapan
Idli Stall is a must-visit if you're in Matunga and looking for something
healthy. In about 5 minutes, you may have a variety of dosas at Ayyapan Idli
Stall. The Cocktail dosa is basically a cocktail of all the ingredients used in
various dosas; it's filling and delicious! It's the only dosa you need to get
if you want to be satisfied with just one thing.
Nandu Dosa, Juhu
In Juhu, near Ritumbara College, the Jini Dosa is
served at Nandu Dosa. One of Mumbai's best-known dosa eateries, this stall is
famed for its affordable dosas. Youngsters typically take over during
lunchtime, and you can see their joy on their cheeks as they gobble up dosas
from the stall. Try their paneer makhani dosa and sweet corn dosa, however.
Sai Swad Dosa, Ghatkopar East
It's a foodie's paradise in Ghatkopar's alleyways. In
addition, the Jini Dosa is a crowd-pleaser at this quaint small stall. You must
try the Maggi and Manchurian dosas. Dosa lovers should not miss this booth
because it is one of the most famous dosa-serving stalls! hygiene is well-maintained
along with amazing flavoursome taste. They provide with dosa coconut, green
& Schezwan chutneys. The place is mostly crowded thus they simultaneously
make at least 4-5 dosas on different tawas. Still, You will need to wait for
30-40 mins but the taste & varieties that you get here is worth the wait.
Narayan Dosa, Grant Road
Dosa at Narayan's is one of Mumbai's oldest dosa joints.
You can choose from a variety of fusion and traditional dosas. There are four
tables within the restaurant where you can eat. But the majority eat in their
parked cars or stand out. Evenings and late evenings are usually are very crowded
at this location. It can take up to 30-40 minutes on a
normal day, and up to 50 minutes on the weekends to receive your order. To
prevent high wait times, it's best to place your order early. Even during peak
hours, the staff is kind and accommodating, and they immediately take care of
your food requests.
