It's all in the Bread!

Mumbai is known for its fast food — one that is made on stalls; is delicious; and tugs at the heartstrings of every Mumbaikar. And, one such item that is quick and easy, is the sandwich. Sandwiches are a classic on-the-go snack. I don't mean Subway sandwiches here. Specifically, I'm talking about the street-style sandwiches that hit you right in the gut. Mumbai is well-known for its vada pavs and these buttery, cheesy, piled-high vegetable sandwiches. Every train station and college has a stall. The Bombay sandwich is a variant of the sandwich that the people of Mumbai have been creating for many years. Mumbai's office-goers and the general public have been satisfied. Boil potatoes and beets are sandwiched between two slices of bread with bell peppers, cucumbers, and onions. Toasted or grilled, it can be eaten either way. While you have a variety of gourmet sandwiches up for grabs, here is a list of the best roadside sandwiches that you have to taste if you are a sandwich lover!

Sandwizza

This joint is not a roadside eatery but a proper joint. It was earlier called swastika, the food is of good quality, an interesting piece of information is that, it used to be a roadside eatery and it saw so much success over the years so they converted into a store. It does quirky flavors such as cheese pineapple, tandori toast and spinach corn. This place is well known for its vegetable grilled sandwich. The sandwiches have a huge Mumbaiya influence.

Anand Stall

A huge hit with the students of Mithibai College, this stall has a wide range of sandwiches along with other food items. Huge triangular sandwich bread and sandwiches loaded with cheese. The dishes to try are the veg. grilled sandwich and Mayonnaise grilled sandwich.

Right Placebreach candy

At this Eatery, they excel at making a delectable Grilled cheese sandwich. Bread and Amul cheese with chopped up vegetables and chili-coriander chutney, while eating this you’re sure to think that you’ve come at the right place! It is made fresh, right in front of you, and it is very fascinating to watch the preparation. It has been around for more than 3 decades, consistently serving generous and delicious portions of everything fast-food. Though there’s no seating, you’ll just love the vibe of the place.

Jay Sandwich, Bandra

This place is truly a hidden gem near linking road Bandra. If you are visiting linking road this place has to be on your go-to list. This place serves some amazing high-quality sandwiches and drinks along with it. This place used to be always crowded by the students of nearby colleges. The taste is really delicious and the prices are very reasonable. So mouth-watering and appetizing. Chutney which is served with sandwich is minty and tasty.

Raju Sandwich, Churchgate

This place is right opposite to HR College and is one of the favourites amongst the students. Very crowded place you will definitely need to wait atleast 20 - 25 minutes to get your order. The food is of superb quality and very well presented. The prices are decent and totally worth the food. It strictly serves vegetarian which is a delight to one's mouth. Complete cheesy and lip-smacking food joint.

Lucky Sandwich, Parle

That joy of eating delicious street food! Optimally spicy & crispy, freshly toasted & buttery, vegetable brown bread toast sandwich served with mint chutney, is utterly lip-smacking. Lucky Sandwich & Pizza Corner is near Parle West Station. Being quite close Vile Parle West station, it's been my go-to place for years. Their grilled sandwiches are quite filling. Their classic vegetable sandwich is one of my favorites. Their grilled cheese sandwich and chilly cheese toast sandwich are worth trying. They have a great variety of Jain sandwiches. Their toasties really stand out, so do try this if you’re in the area!
